What started as an ordinary day for Fiona Begg turned into one of the most emotional moments of her life.

And it all began on a quiet road in Collingwood, Ontario.

The 28-year-old was driving when she spotted a flash of gray fur on the roadside.

Her heart sank.

A cat had just been hit by a car right in front of her.

For a moment, she thought she was too late, but when she rushed over, she realized the little guy was still breathing.

Without thinking twice, she scooped him up and held him close, whispering to him as if her voice alone could keep him alive.

In that moment, Fiona knew she could not just walk away. She had to give this cat a fighting chance.

She drove him straight to the nearest vet, where he was rushed inside for emergency treatment.

Fiona shared the entire experience with her followers on TikTok, posting a tearful clip that has now been seen more than 15 million times.

In the video, Fiona explains that the vet warned her the situation did not look good.

The injuries were severe, and the cat might need to be put to sleep to end his suffering.

It was devastating news, but Fiona stayed by his side, determined that if this was the end, at least he would not be alone.

The cat, a beautiful gray boy, was stabilized and kept at the clinic over the weekend.

Staff searched for an owner, but no one came forward.

By Monday, the unexpected happened, Fiona received a call that changed everything.

Not only had the cat survived the weekend, but the vet told her he was surprisingly sweet and affectionate despite what he had been through.

If Fiona was willing, they suggested she could adopt him and give him a real home.

Her answer was an immediate yes.

When Fiona returned to the vet to pick him up, her tears were replaced with the biggest smile.

She decided to name him Lucky Chance, the perfect name for a cat who had defied the odds and been given a second shot at life.

In a follow-up clip, Fiona can be seen cradling Lucky Chance as she takes him home for the very first time.

The video then cuts to heartwarming moments of the gray kitty exploring his new surroundings.

He is napping peacefully on the bed, and even meeting Fiona’s dog, Link, through a glass door.

Fiona told Newsweek that Lucky Chance is settling in wonderfully and is already showing his playful, affectionate side.

LC has been playful, affectionate, and surprisingly trusting despite everything,” she said.

Her followers were just as emotional as she was.

TikTok users flooded the comments with messages of love and gratitude, praising Fiona for not looking away when she saw an animal in trouble.

Thank you so much for being a kind person. I wish you both a happy life together,” one user wrote.

Another commented, “May your pockets never go empty and your heart always be blessed.” Others admitted Fiona’s video had them “literally crying.”

One commenter perfectly summed up the feeling many had: “The cat distribution system really went all out with this delivery.”

Fiona says she is still amazed by how far the story has spread, and she has been moved by how many people have connected with Lucky Chance’s journey.

I think we all want to believe in second chances,” she said.

And Lucky Chance is living proof of them.

Stories like Fiona’s remind us that sometimes the smallest decisions can change everything.

In the United States alone, 2.2 million cats were adopted in 2024 as per the ASPCA, but many more never get that happy ending.

Thanks to Fiona’s quick thinking and compassion, Lucky Chance did and now he is safe, loved, and right where he belongs.
