A cat has managed to pull off what most travellers only dream of after slipping out of its carrier at John F. Kennedy International Airport, triggering a frantic search and a $5,000 reward.
The black-and-white tuxedo cat reportedly made its great escape when the zipper on its travel carrier came undone while its owner was inside the airport.
In a matter of seconds, the startled feline bolted and vanished into the terminal, leaving its owner and nearby staff scrambling.

Since then, the owner has been doing everything possible to track the cat down, including spreading the word online and offering a hefty cash reward to anyone who can help bring the runaway pet home safely.
Anyone who believes they may have spotted the cat is being asked not to attempt to chase or catch it. According to information publicly shared by the owner, sightings or credible tips can be reported by calling 347-256-4380.
Travellers are also encouraged to notify nearby airport staff, as frightened animals often hide in quiet or restricted areas.
The owner has asked that the number be used only for genuine sightings or information related to the missing cat.

Animal experts say situations like this are every pet owner’s nightmare.
Loud noises, crowds, and unfamiliar smells can cause animals to panic, making airports one of the worst places for a pet to go missing.
The incident has also sparked discussion online about pet travel safety, with many pointing out how important it is to double-check carriers, zippers, and locks before heading into busy public spaces.
For now, the search continues, with airport workers, travellers, and animal lovers all hoping the bold little escapee will soon be found safe and reunited with its owner.
