Kitten Sat With A Cloth Crying For Hour — Until Owner Finally Revealed Inside Is Almost Too Sad To Watch
A video shared by a heartbroken cat owner has left millions in tears after showing a kitten refusing to leave its mother’s side moments after she passed away.
TikTok user @ai.yue3, a 19-year-old from the Philippines, posted the emotional clip showing her kitten lying on top of its late mom, Yohane, who had died suddenly from a heart attack.
Yohane had given birth to three kittens just two months earlier in June, and the tiny family had quickly become the center of their owner’s world.
But in August, tragedy struck. Yohane collapsed unexpectedly, leaving her kittens without their mother.
Wrapped gently in a blanket before being laid to rest, Yohane’s body remained still, except for the little kitten pressed tightly against her, refusing to move.

“I felt sad because I lost my cat, but I was even sadder for the kitten who had lost its mother,” @ai.yue3 told Newsweek.
She explained that the kitten stayed by Yohane’s body for almost half an hour before the burial, as if it couldn’t accept what had happened.
The heartbreaking moment, captured in a short video, quickly went viral on TikTok.
Within just a few days, it had gathered over 3.8 million views and 875,000 likes, with thousands of comments from viewers who said they couldn’t stop crying after watching it.
The clip shows the kitten lying on Yohane’s chest, its tiny body still and quiet, as though trying to wake her.
The young owner’s grief is clear, but she says her priority now is helping the kittens adjust and heal.
“The kitten is doing OK now,” she shared. “I’ve been giving them milk to replace the mom’s milk, but I’m also feeding them dry food now that they’re old enough.”
Though the loss was sudden, @ai.yue3 is determined to care for Yohane’s babies the best she can.
She said the kittens are healthy and safe, as their mother’s passing was due to a heart condition and not an illness that could spread.
While the clip has captured hearts worldwide, it’s also sparked conversations about how deeply animals can grieve.

According to VCA Animal Hospitals, cats experience emotions similar to humans, including sadness and loss.
When a cat mourns, they may become quiet, sleep more than usual, avoid playtime, or even lose their appetite.
Some cats, just like Yohane’s kitten, stay close to the body of a lost companion or parent as a way of saying goodbye.
Experts say this behavior helps them process what happened and begin to adjust to life without their loved one.
Viewers on TikTok were quick to send messages of support and love to the young woman and her cats. One person commented: “That poor baby just wants his mum back.”
Another wrote: “Grief of losing a mum is universal. I wish I could hug her and tell her it’s going to be OK.”
Someone else added: “Thank you for letting this baby say goodbye to her momma.”
Yet, not all reactions were kind. The viral attention brought some negative comments too, which @ai.yue3 admitted were painful to read.
“I am a fur parent who just lost her cat, and people are bashing me for being a careless owner,” she said.
“I love my cats so much and I’m willing to do anything for them. I hope people learn to be sensitive, especially if you’ve just lost a cat you loved so dearly.”

Despite the criticism, the outpouring of empathy has been overwhelming.
Many cat owners shared their own experiences of losing a beloved pet, describing how they saw similar moments of grief in surviving animals.
Animal behaviorists note that cats form strong emotional bonds with their family members and humans.
When one dies, it can affect the entire household, feline or human alike. Providing comfort, routine, and affection helps them cope, just as it does for people.
For @ai.yue3, that’s exactly what she’s doing.
Her days now revolve around bottle feeding, cleaning, and ensuring Yohane’s kittens grow up strong.

She says they’ve begun to play more, chase each other around, and even purr again, small but meaningful signs of healing.
While the pain of losing Yohane still lingers, the viral moment has brought a sense of connection between strangers across the world.
As one comment put it perfectly: “Love and grief don’t need words. You can see it in that kitten’s little body. She just wanted her mom back.”
The story of Yohane and her kitten is a reminder of just how deep the bonds between animals can run and how even in heartbreak, love still finds a way to linger.
