Tuxedo Cat Refused Food For Weeks—When Vets Opened His Mouth They Found Something Unbelievable

When a kindhearted rescuer spotted a frail tuxedo cat wandering through a park in the Bronx, she instantly knew he was in trouble.

What she did not know was that this broken little feline, later named Andrew, would soon transform into the most affectionate companion she had ever seen.

Andrew was nothing more than skin and bones when he stumbled into that park, desperate and weak.

His glossy black-and-white fur looked dull, his frame was painfully thin, and every step he took revealed how exhausted he was.

Hoping to help, the rescuer offered him some food.

But instead of eagerly eating, Andrew struggled.

He drooled heavily, winced in pain, and could barely manage a bite.

It was clear this was no ordinary case of hunger. Something was terribly wrong.

The rescuer wasted no time.

She contacted Little Wanderers NYC, a rescue group known for stepping in when cats are in desperate need.

The team immediately examined Andrew and discovered the source of his agony.

He was suffering from a severe oral infection so painful that even the simple act of chewing was unbearable.

He had a severe oral infection and could barely eat. His rescuer fed him liquids, as he cried in pain when trying to eat anything else,” the rescue team explained.

For a cat living on the streets, an untreated infection could have been a death sentence.

But Andrew’s luck had finally changed.

The veterinarians treated his infection and extracted four teeth, relieving him from the constant suffering he had endured.

Almost immediately after the procedure, Andrew began to show his true self.

Gone was the frail, defeated cat from the park.

In his place emerged a sweet tuxedo boy eager to stretch his paws, roll around, and purr loudly as he leaned into the hands of anyone willing to pet him.

The team at Little Wanderers NYC quickly realized something important.

Andrew was not a cat meant for the streets. He was far too affectionate and people-oriented.

He did not belong on the street, and he is so grateful,” the rescue shared.

To help him recover comfortably, Andrew was placed in foster care.

There, he soaked up every bit of attention, following his caregiver from room to room and curling up close whenever he could.

His foster described him as “a super affectionate chap with only headbutts and kisses to give.”

It did not take long before Andrew met Jeff, one of the foster volunteers.

From the very beginning, Andrew seemed to know that Jeff was special.

He made it his mission to stay close to him at all times.

Whether Jeff was working, walking around the house, or settling down on the sofa, Andrew was there with a steady stream of purrs.

The tuxedo cat waited at the door every day for Jeff to return home, greeting him with kisses, paw taps, and cuddles.

He had finally found the person he wanted to hold on to forever.

Jeff, too, quickly realized that Andrew was no ordinary cat.

I can hands-down say he’s the most affectionate, nice natured and trusting animal I’ve ever met. His purrs are as loud as a parked Harley Davidson with the engine left running,” he said.

What began as a temporary foster arrangement blossomed into something permanent.

Jeff knew he could never let Andrew go.

The bond between them had become unshakable.

Little Wanderers NYC shared the happy update with delight.

His biggest worries are what time dad will be home from work to cuddle and feed him. These two have the sweetest bond ever.”

Today, Andrew is hardly recognizable as the same fragile stray found in that Bronx park. He is healthy, chubby-cheeked, and overflowing with affection.

He spends his days giving Jeff endless headbutts, purring with pride, and even helping his dad host parties, charming every guest who meets him.

The rescue team summed up his incredible transformation perfectly:

Andrew was in rough shape when he was rescued from the Bronx. He was fully vetted and received a dental and is now a completely different cat.”

Once a starving stray in desperate pain, Andrew is now living the life every cat deserves.

He has a forever home, a human he adores, and a second chance he never thought possible.

And judging by the way he clings to Jeff and purrs at full volume, he never intends to let go.
